Two phrases stand out in God’s Word today: “Give careful thought,” and “From this day on.” These phrases joined together signal a change brought about by God’s working repentance in His people, leading them to obedience. There is a change of heart and, as a result, a change of activity. (Where do I need God to bring about change of heart, of attitude, of action in my life? The image God’s Word gives is that sin clings to us like death without God’s renewal.) We give careful thought to what God has said, and as His people we trust and believe that this day, this moment is new—a “from this day on I will bless you” moment. How do God’s words speak to us corporately at Prince of Peace? What does that “from this day on” blessing look like?
