Ch. 12 - The Trials of a King

On this First Sunday after Christmas, while we launch back into The Story we certainly don’t leave the infant Jesus behind. He is the one who was born to reign on the throne of His “father” David. And although Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords, he will experience all the trials that come with living as a human in this fallen world. In fact, as our substitute Jesus will even bear the sins and indiscretions, the griefs and trials of the great King David as He bears the sins of all people. As we worship Jesus today, we confidently acclaim with David: “Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,” forever and ever. What does it mean to you to acclaim Jesus as your King? What does submission under His reign look like in our world today? As Jesus has carried all your sins and trials, how will you in gratitude proclaim this truth for others?
